  • Although it was too early in history for a TV advertising campaign, the ‘slow transit’ laxative cleansing effect of yogurt (on the intestines) was promoted by renowned ancient Greek doctor, Galino, in 2 BC.
  • The people at Tims Dairy wonder whether ancient cave drawings will one day be discovered featuring yogurt pots to support the view that yogurt originates from the Neolithic period when man first began to milk animals. Yogurt was produced when a clay pot full of warm milk was contaminated by a mixture of organisms that thrived in it.
  • Calcium is an essential nutrient for us all. The calcium content of yogurt is particularly beneficial to children and teenagers (promoting growth), to breast feeding mothers and to the elderly (helping to prevent osteoporosis).
  • Greek yogurt is typically made with cow’s or sheep’s milk. It contains 9% - 10% milk fat which gives it a smooth, creamy mouth feel and texture.
